When I was young I was diagnosed with dandruff due to itchiness and flakiness in my scalp. Although this was the diagnosis I thought I had, my grandfather (Poppa) queried this as it was similar to his psoriasis that he had. Growing up my scalp got worse and worse and I would have the odd patch on my body which by this time I had already researched psoriasis and diagnosed myself with psoriasis.

In April 2019, I had a throat infection which caused my first psoriasis flare up. The psoriasis showed up all at once one day which really did scare me as I was not completely sure what it was, but after some research I found it was psoriasis. I was told by doctors that it was Guttate Psoriasis and that the uncomfortableness in my scalp I had growing up was definitely psoriasis.

I have learnt from the 3 different flare ups I have had, that sitting in the sun and having some sort of light on my skin, clears my skin up completely.

I am extremely lucky to have the best family and friends around me who always make me stronger. My mum and my dad are so amazing and are extremely understanding to my emotions surrounding my skin. They make me feel beautiful and have even booked a holiday for me to try and get some sun.

My psoriasis is a long journey which will come with lots of ups and downs but I know my skin does not define me, just makes me more beautiful. I like to call my psoriasis beauty marks and show this on my Instagram page which I use to show my journey with psoriasis and support others going through similar. Rosie.katiex
