‘What is Psoriasis?’ a new resource providing advice for those newly diagnosed released.

To celebrate Psoriasis Awareness Week, The Psoriasis Association have produced an updated and refreshed version of their flagship leaflet.

The 16-page booklet, entitled ‘What is Psoriasis?’, has been put together by members of our information team to help support those who have been newly diagnosed with psoriasis and to answer many of the initial questions they may have,

The leaflet has been through a robust production process in line with the requirements of the PIF Tick, the only UK quality mark for trustworthy health information of which the Psoriasis Association is accredited.

This means that all information resources that carry the PIF logo have demonstrated they meet the ten criteria set out by the scheme, one of which is that the resource should be thoroughly reviewed by both expert and lay reviewers.

The new resource uses a new range of photographs from our 'active lifestyles' photoshoot last year as well as images of psoriasis for the first time, in response to reviewer feedback.

Deputy Chief Executive, Laura Stevenson said: said: “We are delighted to be able to refresh and update this leaflet in time for Psoriasis Awareness Week. We hope that this resource, will provide advice and support for those that are newly diagnosed and help answer some of the initial questions they may have.  We are extremely grateful to the participants who took the time to review the content for the leaflet and share their experiences of psoriasis”.

Hard copies of the booklet will be distributed at our information days held during Psoriasis Awareness Week or can be requested via our helpline by emailing mail@psoriasis-association.org.uk A digital version is also available on our website here.

The Psoriasis Association currently provides over 50 information sheets and resources for people who want to find out more about psoriasis and the issues that people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis face in their daily lives.

Psoriasis Awareness Week 2023 starts today (World Psoriasis Day) and runs until Friday 3rd November. During this week, held annually at the end of October, we work hard to raise awareness of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
