We asked people to write a postcard their psoriasis, or draw a picture, to express their feelings about their condition. We were overwhelmed with the response. What we received were real works of art - letters and drawings that were so moving in their openness and honesty. Some were difficult to read, some were laugh-out-loud in their frankness, but all were true and very real representations of what living with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis is really like.
What they all showed was what everyone who has psoriasis already knows; that it is much, much more than just a mildly irritating rash or 'skin thing'. Psoriasis is a multi-faceted condition that can affect people in many ways. There are physical symptoms - flaking, itching, redness, discomfort, even pain - but there are also impacts on mental wellbeing and quality of life, as well as social lives, careers and relationships.
Below are just some of the entries we received (click each postcard to view larger), but all were read, valued, and contributed to the content of the See Psoriasis: Look Deeper report and event. We extend our unreserved thanks to everybody who sent something in - we couldn't have done it without you!
