I have had Psoriasis for 10/11 years now and the ointments/treatments i use havent changed much the major factor has been the inconsistency and determination to treat it. I didnt treat it at all really untill i started playing football for a team at 18/19. I would train 3 times a week or more and the use the cream dovonex on all effected areas, it worked for me untill i stopped playing and got lazy with treatments. So now i had psoriasis for about a 5 year gap untill i was 24 which was pretty much inconsistently treated untill i went abroad for the first time to florida. This was a massive break through for me and my psoriasis because a week in the sun was literally like treating your psoriasis for months with the ointments! But be carefull because it can come back 10times as strong when you come back home so make sure you keep up the treatments.
What also works for me is to put the dovonex (scalp) solution on effected areas on the arms and elbows and even the stomach area. Give it a try and see how it goes, its most effective for me straight from the bath or from a treatment the night before with diprosalic cream.
I started going on sunbeds at the start of the year for 6 minutes, twice a week and used the ointments at the same time which literally cleared up my psoriasis within 2 months. Obviously this is a risk and when my skin was clear i stopped and just used the prescribed treatments. But its a fast and effective way or treating psoriasis.
I drink plenty of water and have a mixed diet as i work very long hours. I have a very busy lifestyle which keeps me fit and i drink lots of water. From experiance a few heavy nights out on the town can be very bad for my proriasis and can bring it up very strong the day after. A night out would be ok i think but try not to over-do-it and go out a few nights in a row.
Excersise also has a massive impact on my psoriasis. When im excersisng a lot it becomes easier to treat opposed to when im not excersisng as much.
I dont treat my scalp much at all so i would love to know what other people use as a treatment and also give tips on skin treatments also.
